V. Sattui Winery stands today as the result of hard work, dedication, and the extraordinary vision of two men who happen to be related. Vittorio Sattui started the business in 1885 after emigrating from Genoa, Italy. The law-abiding Vittorio was forced to shut down when Prohibition went into effect, and the winery would lay dormant until 1976, when Vittorio’s great-grandson, Dario, would realize his dream of resurrecting the family business in the town of St. Helena in Napa Valley.
V. Sattui crafts one of the largest selections of award-winning, small-batch, small lot wines to suit a wide range of tastes. Using sustainable and organic vineyard practices, they harvest each grape at the peak of flavor, then use time-honored techniques combined with technologically advanced winemaking equipment to make wines with depth of flavor, complexity, and richness. Explore the wide variety of wines you can purchase online and some exclusively at the winery.
Located in St. Helena, in the heart of Napa Valley there are three tasting rooms to choose from, each offering friendly, knowledgeable service. Their Artisan Deli and Marketplace is the place to gather your ultimate Napa Valley picnic to pair with your wines. Inside there is everything you need to create the perfect picnic: sandwiches, panini, salads, pastas, and other specialty items are made fresh in their kitchen every day. They make our own charcuterie in their Salumeria which pairs with any of their 200 different cheeses, and fresh fruits. Be sure to try the house-made desserts such as Tiramisu, Crème Brûlée, seasonal Fruit Tarts, and their own Italian-style Gelato. Choose from more than 2 acres of shaded picnic grounds surrounded by giant oak trees, flowers and vineyards. Raining? No problem. They set up tables for picnicking in their underground Barrel Room on rainy days. Lined with oak barrels and filled with the aromas of aging wine, this old-world atmosphere is still a fun and memorable place to enjoy your V. Sattui picnic.
Their expert guides will lead you through a 45-minute immersion into the rich history along with current vineyard and winemaking operations. A guided exploration of the Winery Estate helps tell the story of the rebirth of V. Sattui Winery when Dario Sattui, great grandson of Vittorio Sattui, reopened the business after it was closed due to Prohibition. At the conclusion of your guided property exploration, each tour guest receives a complimentary wine tasting.
